history

It was founded in 1960 and played at Altenrhein Airport until 1972 . From 1972 the municipality of Thal im Bützel in Buechen built a sports field, which was inaugurated and occupied in 1973. Since then, the infrastructure of the sports facilities has been gradually improved through the creation of a training field, a playing field, various lighting systems, the Finnish track , public parking spaces and the construction of the Bützel double gym. In 1989 FC Staad was able to inaugurate a cloakroom building, which it financed largely from its own resources and which also covers the operating and maintenance costs. The next project is the creation of an all-weather arena, as the existing arenas in the Bützel are not sufficient for the sports clubs to play and train.

Women's football

In 1992 the women's department was founded, which in 1998 was promoted to the first division and two years later to the national B division. The following year, 2001, they won the championship of the National League B and got into the National League A in. A season later, the team was relegated again, followed by direct resurgence in 2003 and relegation in 2004. 5 seasons followed, in National League B, before being promoted back to National League A in 2009 as runner-up. After 8 years of National League A membership, the women's team was relegated again in the 2016/2017 season. Whereupon the women's department of FC Staad merged with the women's football department of FC St. Gallen to form FC St. Gallen-Staad , which competed in National League B in the 2017/2018 season. In 2018/2019 she was promoted to the NLA.

The home games take place in Espenmoos during the warm months , otherwise on the Bützel football field in Staad, where the artificial turf and the climate on Lake Constance also allow games in winter.
