history

In 1970 , FC Bern took on a women's football team. At that time, women's football teams had to be subordinated to a men's club. No associations were allowed to be founded. It was difficult for many teams to find a club that would accept them and even if you found shelter you were far from welcome. However, the women of FC Bern received the full support of the board from the start. The women's football department was run as a financially independent part of the club.

The first success was not long in coming. In 1978 they became champions and cup winners for the first time. In the eighties, together with SV Seebach Zurich , they dominated Swiss women's football. In 1984 the double was wrapped up for the second time . Between 1994 and 2001 they won the cup nine times in a row. In 1995, 1996, 1997, 2000 and 2001 five more doubles could be celebrated.

On June 15, 2005, the women's football department dissolved from the entire club and founded its own club, FFC Bern.

At the beginning of 2009, the BSC Young Boys from Bern and the FFC decided to work together more closely. They joined the BSC YB and have since played under the name YB Women. In the 2010/11 season, the Swiss championship title was won for the first time in 10 years.
