Vedelago is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 16,737 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Treviso in Veneto .

geography

The municipality is located about 35 kilometers northwest of Venice and 20 kilometers west of Treviso . Vedelago borders the province of Padua .

The districts of Vedelago are called Albaredo, Barcon, Carpenedo, Casacorba, Cavasagra, Fanzolo and Fossalunga .

The neighboring municipalities of Vedelago are Altivole , Castelfranco Veneto , Istrana , Montebelluna , Piombino Dese , Resana , Riese Pio X and Trevignano .

The river Sile has its source near the hamlet of Casacorba.

Attractions

Villa Emo

Vedelago became famous through the Villa Emo in the district of Fanzolo. The complex was built by Andrea Palladio in 1559 and has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage "Vicenza and Palladio's Villas in the Veneto Region" since 1994 .

Vedelago is on Strada Statale 53 Postumia from Vicenza to Portogruaro . A train station on the railway line from Vicenza to Treviso is in the district of Albaredo.
