The Strada Statale 53 Postumia (abbreviation: SS 53 ) between Vicenza and Cittadella , as well as Strada Regionale 53 Postumia (abbreviation: SR 53 ) between Cittadella and Portogruaro is an Italian state road in northeastern Italy. It is located in the Italian region of Veneto and is 119.964 km long.

The SS 53 is managed by the ANAS between Vicenza and the junction with the SS 47 , for a total of 22,950 km . The remaining part, with a length of 92.442 km, is under the control of Veneto Strade SpA . In this part the SS 53 is now called SR 53 ( Strada Regionale 53 ).

history

Today the SS 53 follows roughly the easternmost part of the ancient Roman road Via Postumia .

Until a few years ago, the entire SS 53 was under the administration of ANAS. The Decreto Legislativo n.112 del 1998 reorganized the jurisdiction, the majority of the SS 53 passed to the regions. The established Veneto Strade SpA. Today manages the longest section of the SS 53, or SR 53, between Cittadella and the end point in Portogruaro.

The SS 53 begins in the provincial capital Vicenza and initially leads northeast to Cittadella . Other places are Castelfranco Veneto , Vedelago and Paese, with the SS heading straight east. The next place is then the provincial capital Treviso , where it briefly becomes an expressway and the SS 13 crosses.

It then heads east to San Biagio di Callalta and Ponte di Piave , where it crosses the Piave . After a bend to the north, you will reach Oderzo . Then it leads east again to Motta di Livenza and Annone Veneto .

Then the road leads south and reaches its end at kilometer 119 at Portogruaro . There she meets the SS 14 .
