Course of the road

The Strada Statale 25 (SS 25) is an Italian national road.

The road was laid in 1928 between Turin and the pass at Mont Cenis . It is continued in the French department road 1006 (until 2006 national road 6 ) to Joigny. It goes back to the Strada nazionale 39, which was laid out on the same route in 1923. Because of its route to Mont Cenis, it bears the name del Moncenisio . Their length was initially about 85 kilometers. In 1947 its length decreased to 70.06 kilometers, as the border with France was moved after the Second World War. The part of the road that has been in France since then became part of national road 6. The total distance of the Turin - Joigny axis of the SS 25 and the N 6 was 667 kilometers.
