Collegno ( Piedmontese Colègn ) is a municipality with 49,615 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian metropolitan city of Turin (TO), Piedmont region . The municipality covers an area of 18 km².
The patron saint of the place is St. Lawrence .
geography
The municipality is located about 10 kilometers west of Turin on the Dora Riparia river , which flows into the Po near Turin .
The neighboring municipalities are Druento , Venaria Reale , Turin , Pianezza , Rivoli and Grugliasco .
history
On April 29 and 30, 1945, 68 Italian partisans and civilians were killed by retreating German armed forces in Collegno and the neighboring municipality of Grugliasco .
