Villar Perosa ( Li Vialar in Occitan , Piedmontese ël Vilar ëd Perouza ) is a municipality with 3990 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian metropolitan city of Turin (TO), Piedmont region . It is located in one of the three Waldensian valleys , the Val Chisone , and is part of the administrative community Comunità Montana Valli Chisone e Germanasca .
The neighboring communities are Pinasca , San Pietro Val Lemina , Inverso Pinasca , San Germano Chisone and Porte .
The world's first submachine gun , the Villar-Perosa M1915 , was named after the city where its producer Giovanni Agnelli , owner of Fiat , was born.

The municipality covers an area of 11 km². It is located about 40 km southwest of Turin .

Population development
Culture and sights
In the municipality is the summer villa from the 18th century of the industrial family Agnelli , called "Il Castello". The property is over two hectares and is still considered to be one of the most magnificent summer houses in Piedmont.
Partnerships
Villar Perosa maintains partnership relationships with the Italian municipality of Pizzoni in Calabria and with the German municipality of Oberderdingen in Baden-Württemberg .
Sons and daughters
- Giovanni Agnelli , the founder of Fiat , was born in Villar Perosa in 1866. He was mayor from 1895 to 1945. His grandson Gianni Agnelli was mayor from 1945 to 1980.
