Locana ( Piedmontese Locan-a , Franco-Provencal Lukënna ) is a municipality with 1427 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian metropolitan city of Turin (TO), Piedmont region .
The neighboring municipalities are Cogne , Ronco Canavese , Noasca , Ribordone , Sparone , Chialamberto , Cantoira , Corio , Monastero di Lanzo and Coassolo Torinese . Locana is located in the Gran Paradiso National Park .
The municipality covers an area of 132 km². Thus it is the largest in the whole of Piedmont. The place is under the patronage of the Birth of Mary .
In the village of Rosone there is the largest hydropower plant in the Valle dell'Orco , with a maximum output of 65 MW.
