Perosa Argentina ( Piedmontese Perosa , Occitan Peirosa ) is a municipality with 3169 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian metropolitan city of Turin (TO), Piedmont region .
The neighboring municipalities are Coazze , Giaveno , Roure , Pinasca , Perrero , Pomaretto and Inverso Pinasca . The patron saint of the place is Saint Genesius .
The municipality covers an area of 26 km². The number of inhabitants decreased by around 20% between 1951 (4693 inhabitants) and 2001 (3731 inhabitants) and since 2001 by more than 5%.
In the area of the village, the Chisonetal , silver was previously mined, in the 19th and early 20th centuries the textile industry dominated the economy. At present, Perosa Argentina is primarily a service center with administration, shops, swimming pool and a museum about the Italian resistance against fascism. A group interested in history is trying to set up a museum about the industrial culture of the area.
Perosa Argentina is the original home of the founders of the Perouse Waldensian colony in Baden-Württemberg (Federal Republic of Germany), which was founded in 1699 .
The Waldensian Old Testament scholar Daniele Garrone was born on June 22, 1954 in Perosa Argentina.
