history

On June 13, 1699, Perouse was created by the arrival of 71 Waldensian families who named the place in memory of their original hometown Perouse (today: Perosa Argentina ) in Piedmont . To this day, family names such as Baral, Baret, Charrier, Mouris, Simondet, Servay and Vinçon remind of the origins of the residents. The current Waldensian church was built in 1738 as a replacement for a small previous building. In 1839 Perouse, until then part of the Heimsheim community , bought the 266.5 hectare mark for 3,924 guilders. 140 years after its founding, Perouse was an independent municipality that was on an equal footing with neighboring communities. 1951 Perouse got a new school house. However, the school was closed in 1973 by the Ministry of Culture. In 1968 a kindergarten was built and in 1970 the community hall was built. On December 1, 1971, Perouse was incorporated into Rutesheim.
