Omentectomy

The omentectomy is the complete or incomplete surgical removal of the omentum . The procedure can be performed through a laparotomy or laparoscopically .

An infragastric form with separation below the great curvature of the stomach (curvatura major) and an infracolic method with separation below the transverse colon can be distinguished.

The procedure is an option for bariatric surgery in the case of direct tumor infiltration and (indirect) spread via the lymph vessels in malignant tumors or in the case of pronounced obesity , and also in the case of direct diseases of the network.
