Daniele Garrone

Daniele Garrone (born June 22, 1954 in Perosa Argentina ) is an Evangelical-Waldensian theologian and Old Testament scholar.

Garrone attended the Scuola Ebraica , a private school sponsored by the Jewish community of Turin . After graduating from high school (Maturità scientifica, 1973) he studied Protestant theology from 1974 to 1978 and from 1979 to 1980 at the Waldensian Faculty in Rome, interrupted by a year of study abroad in 1978/79 at the University of Heidelberg .

After his ordination he was pastor of the Waldensian churches of Milan and Cinisello Balsamo . Since 1988 he has been professor of the Old Testament at the Waldensian Theological Faculty in Rome. His main research interests are the new Pentateuch criticism and the Judeo-Christian dialogue.

Garrone was a co-translator of the Old Testament into the modern Italian language and was responsible for the translation of the King's Books and the Song of Songs in this project, which ran from 1976 to 1984.

Garrone is a member of the theological advisory committee of the Tavola Valdese for ecumenical relations. He is vice president of the Society for Judeo-Christian Friendship in Rome. He is also President of the Italian Bible Society.

Daniele Garrone is married to Maria Bonafede .
