Romano Canavese ( Piedmontese Roman ) is a municipality with 2665 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian metropolitan city of Turin (TO), Piedmont region .
The municipality includes the villages of Cascine di Romano and Canton Moretti. The neighboring municipalities are Ivrea , Pavone Canavese , Strambino , Perosa Canavese , Scarmagno and Mercenasco .

The place is 41 km from Turin at an altitude of 270 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 11.22 km².
history
Romano was born in 143 BC. Founded as a Roman field camp ( castra ) on the occasion of a war against the Celtic Salasser tribe . In the 14th century, the population of Romano was involved in the Tuchini uprising, a peasant uprising that was directed against the ruling princes and is still remembered today at the Carnival of Ivrea . During the hostilities, the ancient castle was destroyed except for a single tower, which is now the landmark of the place.
