Cerdanyola ( cat. [ Səɾðəˈɲɔɫə ðəɫ bəˈʎɛs ]) is a Catalan city ​​about 17 km north of Barcelona in the Comarca Vallès Occidental and belongs to the metropolitan area Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona .

The ridge of the Serra de Collserola lies between the town and the Catalan capital . The place is at an average altitude of 32 m above sea level and has a population density of 1,919.84 inhabitants / km².

The correct name is Cerdanyola del Vallès , in Spanish it was Cerdañola del Vallés , previously also called Sardañola . Cerdanyola is home to an industrial park (Parc Tecnològic del Vallès) that includes large companies such as Epson España. The Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) is located in Cerdanyola .

Cerdanyola has 57,403 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). Every year a large international photography biennial and a blues festival, both with participation from all over the world, are held.

Cerdanyola was already populated under Roman rule 2000 years ago, there is an aqueduct from Roman times, an amphitheater and an ancient Roman trade route to Barcelona.
