As Strada provinciale or provincial road (abbreviation SP + number or South Tyrol in German LS + number) is in Italy shall apply:

  • a road that is the responsibility of a province ,
  • u. U. a former Strada statale (Eng .: "state road"), which has been maintained by a province since the law was changed in 1998, but has kept its number; this is now placed in front of SP instead of SS .

SP have quite different states. In addition to asphalt, there are also cobblestones and water-bound road surfaces. Potholes and brittle asphalt must be expected. Pass roads in the mountains sometimes have no safeguards against the abyss, existing safeguards are dilapidated. The width of the lane varies greatly, and very narrow sections are to be expected.
