The Mont Cenis ( Italian Moncenisio or Monte Cenisio ) is a mountain massif in the Graian Alps . The French part of the region belongs to the outer zone of the Vanoise National Park ( French Parc National de la Vanoise ).
On a high plateau south of the massif, the pass is Mont Cenis with a height of 2083 m slm The pass road from Lanslebourg-Mont-Cenis , Lanslevillard by Susa is on the French side, the department road D 1006 and on the Italian side, the State Road 25 .
To the south of the pass is the Lac du Mont Cenis reservoir . The border between France and Italy runs a little further south.
Tourism and hiking trails
The Mont Cenis Plateau is a popular destination. At Les Fontanettes there is a small historical museum and an Italian-French information center.
The Via Alpina and Alta Via Val di Susa long-distance hiking trails run over the Mont-Cenis plateau.
