The SS 354 was a 14 km long Strada Statale (state road) that led from Latisana to the seaside resort of Lignano . The state road was downgraded to Strada Regionale 354 di Lignano in 1973 . As a connection between Lignano and the Italian motorway network ( A4 ), the road still fulfills an important function.

Lignano has only been accessible by land since the SS 354 was built in the 1920s. The road was paved with asphalt at the beginning of the 1950s and now looks like an expressway, as it has now been expanded to four lanes. In summer there are still traffic jams due to the high traffic in the seaside resorts of Lignano and Bibione .

Today's route

The Strada Regionale 354, the successor to the former SS 354, begins today in Latisana where they from the A 4 branches and then runs straight towards Lignano. The only places on the route are Pertegada and Gorgo, districts of Latisana. The street often crosses side streets, which is why there are many traffic lights. After the junction of a road to Bibione , the road leads past the harbor in the Marano lagoon before crossing a bridge at the entrance to Lignano.
