Latisana is a town with 13,372 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia .
Geographical location
Latisana is about 20 km inland from the two large bathing cities Lignano Sabbiadoro and Bibione, directly on the A4 motorway between Venice and Trieste . Latisana has its own motorway exit from the A4. From here, the SS 354 expressway leads to Lignano Sabbiadoro. Latisana is located on the Tagliamento River , which separates Friuli-Venezia Giulia from Veneto . The neighboring Venetian town of San Michele al Tagliamento is only separated from Latisana by the river.
The neighboring municipalities are Lignano Sabbiadoro , Marano Lagunare , Palazzolo dello Stella , Precenicco , Ronchis and San Michele al Tagliamento ( VE ).

Viticulture
Wines with a “controlled designation of origin ” (Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC ) have been marketed under the name “Friuli Latisana” since 1975 . The DOC was last updated on March 7, 2014.
Growing area
Cultivation and expansion is permitted in the following municipalities: Varmo , Rivignano , Ronchis , Latisana, Precenicco , Palazzolo dello Stella , Pocenia , Teor and Lignano Sabbiadoro . Friuli Latisana can also be produced in parts of the following municipalities: Morsano al Tagliamento , Muzzana del Turgnano and Castions di Strada .
Manufacturing
Eight different red wines and eight different white wines, which must contain at least 85% of the specified grape variety , are produced under this denomination. Furthermore, cuvées are produced with the following specification:
- Friuli Latisana Bianco: at least 60% Friulano , max. 30% Chardonnay and / or Pinot Bianco
- Friuli Latisana Rosso and Rosato: at least 60% Merlot , max. 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and / or Cabernet Franc and / or Carménère
