The municipality of Sacile is located in northeast Italy in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region . It is located west of Pordenone and has 19,977 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). Due to its resemblance to Venice through canals, the city is often referred to as Little Venice or the Garden of Venice .
In addition to the main town Sacile, the municipality includes ten other localities and hamlets: Camolli, Cavolano, Cornadella, Ronche, San Giovanni del Tempio, San Giovanni di Livenza, San Michele, Schiavoi, Topaligo, Villorba and Vistorta.
history
There were reports of severe damage after the Friuli earthquake in 1348 .
The Battle of Sacile (or Fontanafredda ) took place on April 16, 1809 during the Fifth Coalition War between Austria under Archduke Johann and France under Viceroy Eugène de Beauharnais and ended with a victory for the Austrians.
Attractions
- San Nicolò Cathedral, built between 1474 and 1496 by Beltrame and Vittorio da Como.
- The Church of San Gregorio and the Church of Santa Maria della Pietà, built in 1611, are also the landmarks of the city on the Livenza.
- Located in the northern part of the old town is the imposing Palazzo Ragazzoni, named after the Venetian family who once lived here.

Sacile station is located at the junction of the Sacile – Pinzano railway line, which opened in 1930, from the Venice – Udine railway line . In 1918 there was also an army railway to Vittorio .
