Varmo (Furlanic: Vildivar ) is a northeastern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2710 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region . The municipality is located about 29 kilometers southwest of Udine on the Varmo and borders directly on the metropolitan city of Venice . The western municipal boundary forms the Tagliamento .

In the first years after 1000 AD the first counts of Varmo ruled. The Furlan name is an abbreviation of Villagio di Varmo .
