Tricesimo ( Tresésin in the locally spoken Furlanic language ) is an Italian municipality on the edge of the Alps near the city of Udine .

The municipality has 7693 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and borders the municipalities of Cassacco , Pagnacco , Reana del Rojale , Tarcento , Tavagnacco , Treppo Grande and Colloredo di Monte Albano .

The name goes back to the Latin ad tricesimum lapidem , which means the thirtieth milestone from the port of Aquileia on the Via Julia Augusta towards Noricum . This is where the first larger rest station after Aquileia was located, as such it is still listed in the Tabula Peutingeriana .
