Forni di Sopra ( Furlanic For Disore ) is a municipality in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region with 910 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). Forni lies on the border with the province of Belluno . The Tagliamento has its source at the Mauria Pass on the border between Friuli and Belluno.
Settled in pre-Roman times, the "Forni Savorgnani" were first mentioned in 778 .
The modern village consists of three fractions: Andrazza, Cella and Vico.
Forni lives mainly from tourism, as the surrounding mountains, the Friulian Dolomites , are popular with mountaineers and skiers. Forni is also a member of the Alpine Pearls , which advocate environmentally friendly mobility in the Alpine region.

Giovanni Maria Anciuti (* 1674 Forni di Sopra, Udine, † 1744 Milan), in his day leading instrument maker of woodwind instruments in Venice and Milan. He built u. a. Recorders, baroque oboes and tenor oboes, which are now exhibited in many European museums and are still used as templates for historical replicas.
