Arta Terme (Furlanic Darte ) is a municipality in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region in Friuli , Italy with 2068 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

The place is 442 m above sea level on the river Bût in Carnia . The neighboring municipalities are Moggio Udinese , Paluzza , Paularo , Sutrio , Tolmezzo , Treppo Ligosullo and Zuglio . The name of the place is derived from the Latin artus (= narrow), as the valley narrows at this point.

Arta Terme also has ten districts: Avosacco, Cabia, Cedarchis, Inquan, Lavoreit, Lovea, Piano d'Arta, Piedim, Rivalpo and Valle.

history

This place was already known in antiquity for its sulphurous spring, the fonte pudia . Later the Venetian and Friulian citizens also visited this seaside resort. The poet Giosuè Carducci was among the more prominent guests . Today there is a modern bath complex at the source. There are 12 hotels and pensions in Arta Terme.

There is a European meeting place in Arta Terme. This is organized by the “Arta Terme e. V. “from Holzkirchen (Upper Bavaria) . There are regular camps and seminars in this house, the former Hotel Belvedere. The house is used, for example, by the altar boys Holzkirchen and the Kolping Youth Munich Freising .
