Willi Suth (born November 13, 1881 in Cologne , † September 10, 1956 in St. Raphaël , French Riviera) was Lord Mayor and City Director of Cologne.

biography

Suth was a lawyer and had been employed by the city of Cologne since 1915. He was on 19 February 1919, the side of his brother, the Lord Mayor Konrad Adenauer to aldermen appointed the city and was among others in 1925 also trade department head. After the Nazis came to power, after Konrad Adenauer had already been given compulsory leave, he was also given compulsory leave on March 18, 1933 , together with six other councilors from the city of Cologne, including Max Berndorff , Ernst Schwering and Wilhelm Greven . Most recently he worked as an alderman for welfare at the city administration of Cologne.

After the American occupation of Cologne, he was entrusted with the management of the city ​​administration on March 16, 1945 . At first the working conditions were very primitive. Finally, on April 11, 1946, Suth was appointed the first city director of the city of Cologne. He held this office until 1953. Suth was married to Lilli Adenauer (1879–1950), Konrad Adenauer's sister. His successor as City Director was the nephew of his wife and son of Konrad, Max Adenauer .

The grave of the Suths is located in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (corridor 60a).

At the beginning of the 1970s, Willi-Suth-Allee was named after him in Cologne's Chorweiler district.
