Lothar Ruschmeier

Lothar Ruschmeier (born November 5, 1945 in Minden ; † August 19, 2012 in Cologne ) was City Director of Cologne from 1990 to 1998 . He was a member of the SPD .

Ruschmeier was local chairman of the Troisdorf SPD from 1975 to 1989 and chairman of the SPD faction in the Troisdorf city council from 1979 to 1982. The Kaiser construction group makes him jointly responsible for the failure of their negotiations with the city of Troisdorf about the future of the so-called Kaiserbau .

He was then head of the department for social affairs, schools, housing, youth and sport in the city of Cologne. He also held the post of office manager for his predecessor Kurt Rossa for two years . On March 27, 1990, the Cologne City Council elected Ruschmeier as the new City Director.

As City Director, he was jointly responsible for the construction of the KölnArena and the construction of the Cologne waste incineration plant. In the subsequent corruption proceedings for the Cologne donation affair, Ruschmeier declared that he could not remember any details.

His tenure as city manager ended on 22 April 1998. On 24 March 1998 the private bank told Sal. Oppenheim with, Rusch Meier will immediately after the end of his service in the city as an equal managing director alongside Matthias Graf von Krockow and Josef Esch of the management board Enter Oppenheim-Esch-Holding . With that he moved to the group of companies, with which he often had to do as City Director. This group of companies was responsible for a large number of contracts that were disadvantageous and harmful to the city of Cologne (examples: Lanxess Arena, KölnMesse ).

After the end of his political career, Ruschmeier volunteered a. a. also as chairman of the Kölner Jugendhilfe and as a member of the supervisory board at 1. FC Köln .

Ruschmeier was married and the father of two sons.
