The Hoppenstedt group of companies was a German information service provider. At last it consisted of three sister companies: Hoppenstedt Firmeninformationen GmbH sold company information and business addresses for sales and marketing; Hoppenstedt Kreditinformationen GmbH and Hoppenstedt360 GmbH were providers of credit and risk analyzes under the Hoppenstedt CreditCheck and Hoppenstedt360 brands. The companies were based in Darmstadt and belonged to the European business information company Bisnode . In June 2013, the companies changed their name to Bisnode Deutschland GmbH, and the Hoppenstedt and D&B brands were largely replaced by the Bisnode brand.

The company was initially founded as a book publisher and the Hoppenstedt Group transformed into an information service provider in the business-to-business area with a focus on electronic media . The center of the company information was the "Hoppenstedt company database", which contained company profiles of 300,000 companies in Germany and their around 1 million contact persons in the first and second management levels.

In 1926 the company was founded by Roland Hoppenstedt sen. and Hans Hoppenstedt founded as R. & H. Hoppenstedt publishing house in Berlin . In 1935 the name was changed to Hoppenstedt & Co. and in 1941 to Das Spezial-Archiv der Deutschen Wirtschaft Verlag Hoppenstedt & Co. The Berlin publishing house was destroyed in World War II and the publishing house moved to Heppenheim an der Bergstrasse in 1946 . From 1953 the company was run from Darmstadt. In 1970 the company changed its name to Verlag Hoppenstedt & Co. and in 1994 Verlag Hoppenstedt GmbH was formed.

The sub-companies of Hoppenstedt Holding belonged to the Swedish media group Bonnier since January 1, 2000 . There they were incorporated into "Bonnier Business Information AB". In 2004 D&B Deutschland GmbH was integrated into the group. Since May 2006 the group has been part of the Swedish Bisnode AB based in Stockholm. Bisnode is 70% owned by Ratos and 30% by the Bonnier Group. Since July 1, 2007, the group has also had the license rights to the “ABC of German Business”, which was sold again in 2012. In December 2007 the group bought the naming and publishing rights of the Dressler Verlag from Heidelberg with the trade magazines CAD-CAM-Report and eDM-Report. At the end of 2008, the Bisnode Group also acquired “Who delivers what?” In Hamburg, which was sold again in 2012. In the spring, the German holding company changed its name from Hoppenstedt Holding GmbH to Bisnode Deutschland Holding GmbH. In November 2009 Hoppenstedt Firmeninformationen took over the market research and analysis company RAAD Research, which specializes in the business IT market. However, this division was closed again at the end of 2012. In April 2010, Hoppenstedt360 was launched as a further offer in the field of B2B credit reports. In 2012 the specialist magazine division Hoppenstedt Publishing GmbH was sold to WEKA Holding . For further history see Bisnode .
