Lorsbach has been part of today's district town of the Main-Taunus district of Hofheim am Taunus in southern Hesse since July 1, 1972 and has around 2800 inhabitants.

Geographical location

Lorsbach is located in the southern foothills of the Taunus , north of Hofheim am Taunus . It is located there in the narrow Lorsbachtal, which connects Eppstein with Hofheim. The Schwarzbach , formerly called Goldbach, flows through the Lorsbachtal . The street name Goldbachweg is a reminder of this. In the west of the Lorsbacher district lies the 410 meter high Judenkopf, the highest elevation in Hofheim's urban area.

history

Lorsbach was first mentioned in a document in the loan register of the city of Eppstein im Taunus from 1280. There Lorsbach is described as the settlement of several farms .

Nevertheless, there was probably a settlement in the Lorsbachtal before that, as can be seen in the Alteburg , a ring wall system from the early Middle Ages .

The settlement increased especially when the railway line between Frankfurt am Main and Limburg an der Lahn through Lorsbach was built in the middle of the 19th century . In addition, the foundation stone for the main branch of industry for the next hundred years was laid with the establishment of Lorsbach's first leather factory in 1881. After the Second World War , Lorsbach's population rose to over 2000 for the first time.

On July 1, 1972, the municipality Lorsbach was in the course of administrative reform in Hesse on a voluntary basis in the town of Hofheim am Taunus incorporated . For Lorsbach, as for the other parts of the city and the core city, a local district with a local advisory council and local councilor was formed.
