The SS 115 Sud Occidentale Sicula is one of the most important and the longest state road in Sicily . It leads from Trapani to Syracuse and passes the cities: Trapani, Marsala , Mazara del Vallo , Castelvetrano , Sciacca , Agrigento , Licata , Gela , Vittoria , Comiso , Ragusa , Modica , Noto , Avola and Syracuse. The SS 115 ter is a junction of the SS 115 and leads to Porto Empedocle . Another branch of the SS 115 is the SS 115 quater, which connects Porto Empedocle with Agrigento . Currently it can only be used on very small sections, as Riccardo Morandi's Akragas Bridge I is very dilapidated and has therefore been completely closed since April 2017. If you come from Trapani and want to go to Agrigento, you should currently follow the SS 115 to the Rotatoria Giugnone and then take the SP 4 to Agrigento. Between Castelvetrano and Gela the SS 115 is part of the E 931 and between Gela and Siracusa it is part of the E 45 . Between the junction "Porto Empedocle" and the Rotatoria Giugnone south of Agrigento, the SS 115 runs over 3.5 kilometers together with the SS 640 on one route. The SS 640 runs from Porto Empedocle to Caltanissetta .

It is 383.2 km long and the operator of the state road is the ANAS .
