The Strada Statale 13 Pontebbana (abbreviation: SS 13 ) is an Italian state road in northern Italy, which leads from Venice via Udine to Tarvisio and on to Austria . It is located in the Italian regions of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia . The SS 13 has a total length of 228.81 km.

It is administered by ANAS between Mestre and the regional border between Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia and from Ugovizza to the state border with Austria. The rest is managed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Strade company.

The SS 13 begins in the suburb of Venice, in Mestre and initially leads north via Mogliano Veneto to the provincial capital Treviso . It crosses with the SS 53 south of the city . It then leads to Villorba and Nervesa , where it crosses the Piave . Then it reaches the town of Conegliano , then changes its course to the east and comes to Sacile . There it also crosses the regional border between Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia.

Passing the villages of Fontanafredda and Porcia, the SS 13 then reaches the provincial capital of Pordenone . The SS 13 continues eastwards past the towns of Casarsa della Delizia and Codroipo to Udine , the economic center of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Here it crosses in the city center with the SS 54 and the SS 56. The SS 13 then changes its course to the north and crosses the villages of Tavagnacco , Reale di Roiale and Tricesimo .

Shortly before the start of the Alps you reach Gemona del Friuli , further north it leads past Venzone to Carnia , near Tolmezzo. Here the SS 52 branches off towards the Mauriapass .

It then continues north through the narrow Canal del Ferro (Iron Valley ), past the towns of Moggio Udinese and Chiusaforte . At Chiusaforte a side road leads through the Raccolana valley to the Nevea saddle .

Passing the village of Dogna , where the border with Austria ran until 1918, you reach the Canal Valley (Valle Canale) with the villages of Pontebba , Malborghetto-Valbruna , Ugovizza and Camporosso , where it crosses the inconspicuous Saifnitz saddle (Sella di Camporosso,  816  m slm ) .

Then the SS 13 reaches Tarvisio and then leads past the old train station in Tarvisio to Coccau and then reaches its end point at the border crossing to Austria Thörl-Maglern . From here it is continued by the B86; After a few kilometers, Villach is reached via it .
