The SS 52 Carnica runs from Carnia in the province of Udine to San Candido in South Tyrol. It is 126,400 km long.

Course of the SS 52

The SS 52 begins at the SS 13 in Carnia (Plans), a district of Venzone , leads first west to Tolmezzo and then on to Ampezzo , Forni di Sotto and Forni di Sopra , all on the upper reaches of the Tagliamento .

Then it leads over the Mauriapass at an altitude of 1295 meters. It is the border between Friuli Venezia Giulia and Veneto. The route then descends into Cadore and branches off before Auronzo di Cadore through a long tunnel to Santo Stefano di Cadore .

After the village, the road leads north over Comelico Superiore and the Kreuzbergpass (1636 m) to South Tyrol.

The SS 52 ends at the SS 49 in Innichen in the Puster Valley , near the Austrian border.

The SS 52 bis leads from Tolmezzo via Zuglio , Arta Terme and Paluzza and then up to the Plöckenpass at an altitude of 1360 meters. The SS 52 bis is the Italian road to the Plöckenpass, which leads to Kötschach-Mauthen on the Carinthian side .
