Türelüre-Lißje even Turelure-Lizzie or Türelüre-Loetche , the name is a legendary Aachen figure, the one since November 19, 1967 at the outset of Klappergasse standing fountain monument of the Aachen sculptor Hubert Löneke dedicated.

The monument

The fountain shows the scene of the story in which a girl Türelüre-Lißje of roguish visit to them is stopped ronde dancing boys and prevented a toilet until it's too late.

The peculiar nickname of the legendary Lieschen Türelüre or Turelure is interpreted as coming from the time of the French occupation of the Rhineland (1794-1814) . There was a mill on Klappergasse near the Pau , whose monotonous operating noises were covered by the common phrase la même turelure (meaning “the same lyre”, literally “the same bagpipe”), which is an abbreviation of the vernacular. The interpretation as the French patronymic family name Turlin also appears possible .

The song Türelüre-Lißche uus Klapperjaaß is widely celebrated in Aachen. Oral folk and children's songs were recorded as early as the second half of the 19th century . Hein Görgen, Johannes Claßen and others composed slightly modified forms.

The suggestion for the modern fountain came from the Aachen honorary master of the carpenter's guild and long-time city councilor, Alois Stüttgen. The fountain consists of a granite bowl , which was carved from an eight-ton block from Dinant on the Meuse and stands on a single-step pedestal made of red brick . Lönekes’s bronze sculpture stands on the bowl, Lieschen in the middle and the rogues on the edge. The work was cast by Johann Schnitzler from Frechen near Cologne . The fountain was unveiled on November 18, 1967 at the entrance to Klappergasse on the corner of Rennbahn and Bendelstrasse. He is fed from the pau.
