Via Postumia

The Via Postumia was a Roman road in Italy that led from Genoa over the Apennines , through the Po Valley to Aquileia . It was around 300 Roman miles (about 450 kilometers) in length .

The road was built in 148 BC. Started on behalf of the consul Spurius Postumius Albinus Magnus . The cities of Tortona , Piacenza , Cremona , Verona and Vicetia lay on its course .

In the eastern section of the route, Strada Statale 53 Postumia follows the course of Via Postumia today .
