Nervesa della Battaglia is a north-eastern Italian municipality ( comune ) in the province of Treviso in Veneto . The municipality is located about 18 kilometers north-northwest of Treviso on the Piave . It has 6577 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
history
The community was first mentioned in an imperial bull in 954. In the 11th century the foundation stone for the abbey of St. Eustachius was laid. In 1339 the village became part of the Republic of Venice . During the First World War , the place was practically razed to the ground. The ruins of the abbey church remain as a monument.
