Paese is a northern Italian municipality ( comune ) with 22,068 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Treviso in Veneto . The municipality is located about eight kilometers west of Treviso on the railway line from Treviso to Vicenza . About four kilometers southwest of Paese is the Treviso-Sant'Angelo airport (called Canova , partly indicated as Aeroporto San Giuseppe ).

history

The settlement is a spin-off or colony of the earlier Aquileias on the Via Postumia . The name is said to come from the Latin pagus ("corridor" or "Gau").

With the annexation of Treviso by the Republic of Venice , Paese also came under the jurisdiction there.
