Montebelluna ( Venetian Montebełuna ) is a city with 31,459 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in northeast Italy , about 67 km northwest of Venice , in the province of Treviso and the Veneto region .
The neighboring municipalities are Altivole , Caerano di San Marco , Cornuda , Crocetta del Montello , Trevignano , Vedelago and Volpago del Montello .
economy
Montebelluna has an important shoe manufacturing industry and is also known as the "shoe capital" in the Veneto region due to the large number of shoe shops.
Montebelluna is the headquarters of the shoe company Geox , the ice and roller skate manufacturer Roces and Garmont , a major manufacturer of mountain , outdoor and ski boots . Fila has research and development facilities here. Whether Nordica or Lange, Dynafit, Fischer or Salomon, all major ski boot brands rely on the Italian specialists. The company of the MBT inventor Karl Müller also develops and produces some of his shoes in Montebelluna.
Culture

The hay cart race , the Palio , originated in Montebelluna and spread from there. The Europalio is about pulling and pushing a handcart to the destination as quickly as possible with several people .
In the Chiesa di Santa Maria in Colle of Montebelluna there is a fresco by the painter Francesco Fontebasso , La Gloria del Paradiso .
