history

The Australian Handball Federation (AHF) was founded in 1985 by the immigrant and former Yugoslav national handball player Sasha Dimitric . The first teams also consisted mainly of European immigrants. In 1988 Australia became the 100th member of the IHF . Since 1990 the selection was allowed to officially participate in qualifying tournaments for world championships, but had to wait until 1999 before they could participate in a world championship for the first time. The only (double) point win in a final round came on January 25, 2003 with a 26:21 win over Greenland .
