The Oceania Continent Handball Federation (OCHF for short; German “Oceanic Continental Handball Federation” ) is the umbrella organization for handball in Oceania and one of five continental associations of the International Handball Federation (IHF). In 2011, OCHF was accepted into the International Handball Federation instead of its predecessor OHF. Oceania provided a participant in the World Championships from 1999 to 2013 with the exception of the 2001 World Cup; so far this has always been Australia. In addition to its continental championship, the Oceanic Association temporarily held a separate World Cup qualification. This was necessary because the two associate members Tahiti and New Caledonia are not members of the IHF and therefore cannot qualify for the World Cup. However, both tournaments were usually played in direct succession at the same location. The OHF was the only continental federation whose continental champions did not qualify directly for the world championship. Since the OCHF took over the organization, the continental championship is again identical to the World Cup qualification. However, only two teams took part in the 2012 championship, Australia and New Zealand.
