The Asian Handball Federation (AHF) is a continental umbrella organization for national handball associations in Asia . It has 44 member associations. The AHF is based in Kuwait City . She is a member of the International Handball Federation (IHF).
The president of the AHF is the Kuwaiti politician and sports functionary Ahmad Fahd al-Ahmad as-Sabah . The Pakistani Muhammad Shafiq holds the office of General Secretary; The managing director ("Executive Director") is Ahmed Abu al-Lail from Kuwait.
history
Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah , who headed the Kuwaiti delegation at the 7th Asian Games in Tehran in 1974 , called for handball to be recognized by the Executive Committee of the Asian Games and for a handball association to be established. On August 26, 1974, handball was recognized as the 19th sport. The formation of the handball association was also decided; Sheikh Fahad Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was elected President and Syad Abul Hassan was elected Secretary General.
At the time of its establishment, the association had 14 members. The association is based in Kuwait.
