Cison di Valmarino is a northeastern Italian municipality with 2636 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Treviso in Veneto . The municipality is located about 34 kilometers north-northwest of Treviso in Valmareno and borders directly on the province of Belluno .
Cison di Valmarino is a member of the I borghi più belli d'Italia association (The Most Beautiful Places in Italy).
history
In the early Middle Ages, today's municipal area was under Lombard rule. The parochial church has its origins in 1170. In particular, the Duchy of Ceneda exerted significant influence on the area. From 1421 the area came under the rule of the Republic of Venice . In 1866 the municipality became part of Italy after the fall of the Lombard-Venetian kingdom.
