Renato Palumbo
Renato Palumbo (born July 27, 1963 in Montebelluna , Veneto , Italy ) is an Italian conductor .
After completing general schooling, Palumbo studied piano, composition and conducting and began directing opera performances (Verdi, Il trovatore ) at the age of 19 .
Palumbo's repertoire is relatively large, he conducts works such as Falstaff , Rigoletto , Aida , Macbeth , Nabucco , Attila , Simon Boccanegra , La forza del destino , La traviata , Maria Stuarda , Beatrice di Tenda , Lucrezia Borgia , Tosca , Madama Butterfly , Manon Lescaut , Der Freischütz .
From his "regular epoch" - Italian Romanticism or Verismo - he also has the unusual and technically very difficult works Robert le diable and Les Huguenots (Meyerbeer), Hans Heiling (Marschner) and Sly (Wolf-Ferrari ) , especially in Italy ) conducts. Palumbo gives guest performances at houses such as the Lyric Opera Chicago, the Vienna State Opera (permanent guest contract) and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich.
Palumbo gained management experience at institutions first as music director of the Istanbul Opera (1989–94) and as principal conductor at Cape Town Opera (1993–98). From 1992 to 1999 he was the chief conductor and musical director of the Macao International Music Festival. From 2006 to 2008 Palumbo was general music director of the Deutsche Oper Berlin .
