Florijana Ismaili (born January 1, 1995 in Aarberg ; † June 29, 2019 at Musso in Lake Como , Italy ) was a Swiss football player . She was most recently under contract with the YB women and played in the Swiss national football team .
Career
society
Ismaili played at FC Walperswil in her youth. In March 2011 she switched to the new Swiss champions YB Women , who lost the cup final a month after their move. In the 2011/12 UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying round , she made it 1-0 in the fourth minute in a 7-0 win against CS Goliador Chișinău . As group winners, the team qualified for the round of 32, but lost both games there against Fortuna Hjørring , in the home game in front of a record crowd of 2,046 spectators. Most recently she was captain of the team.
National team
In 2012 she qualified with the Swiss U-17 national team for the first time for the finals of the U-17 European Championship for women and finished fourth with her team.
She then moved to the U-19 national team, for which she played her first game on September 20, 2012 and came to a total of 13 missions, scoring five goals.
On January 16, 2014, she played for her first international match against Portugal in the Swiss women's national football team . In the following years she was regularly in the squad and came to other missions, e.g. B. at the Cyprus Cup 2014 and Algarve Cup 2015 . In May 2015 she was nominated for the 2015 World Cup, for which Switzerland had qualified for the first time.
Personal
Ismaili, who had Albanian roots , grew up in Worben in the canton of Bern . Her parents come from Preševo and immigrated to Switzerland from what was then Yugoslavia in 1992 . Most recently, the soccer player worked part-time at the reception of a fitness studio. She was an ambassador for the Credit Suisse Cup , the official Swiss school football championship. In 2019 she was the first woman to be appointed “Ambassador of the Presheva Valley” in Serbia .
Ismaili has been missing as of June 29, 2019 after jumping from a boat into Lake Como to cool off. On July 2, the body of the 24-year-old was found at a depth of 204 meters by a remote-controlled submersible vehicle and later recovered.
