Women's DFB Cup 2016/17

The women's DFB Cup was played for the 38th time in the 2017/18 season. As in the 2009/10 season, the final took place in the Rheinenergiestadion in Cologne . The VfL Wolfsburg defeated Bayern Munich with 3: 2 in a penalty shootout . After extra time it was 0-0. The Wolfsburg women were able to successfully defend their title and won the cup for the fifth time.

Participating teams

The teams of the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga of the past season are automatically qualified. In addition, there are the promoted players in the 2nd Bundesliga and the winners of the 21 regional cup competitions. Second teams are generally not eligible to participate. If a second team, whose first team has already qualified for the DFB-Pokal, or a promoted player to the second Bundesliga, wins the state cup, the defeated finalist in the DFB-Pokal moves up.
