ATS Buntentor is a sports club from the Bremen district of Buntentor . The first men's soccer team played in Bremen's highest amateur league for five years. The first women's soccer team took part in the DFB Cup four times and is currently playing in the Bremen League. The first women's lacrosse team plays in the Bundesliga North, the men in the second Bundesliga North. In addition, the floorball team plays as ATS Buntentor Knights in the regional league. The running department of the ATS Buntentor, which was officially founded in 2004, was able to win various titles in German championships, North German championships and state championships in individual and team. Athletes reached the finals at world and European championships for seniors.

history

The association came into being on October 4, 1919, when TV Progress Bremen , which was founded in 1902, merged with TV Progress from Südervorstadt, which was once split off from TV Progress, to form the workers gymnastics and sports club Buntentor . In 1933 the association was banned by the National Socialists , whereupon the members joined the VfB Komet Bremen . After the Second World War , the Buntentor sports community was founded, from which today's general gymnastics and sports club Buntentor emerged. The association has had a heyday since the change in the board in 2004. The number of members increased from 800 to over 2,500 in April 2020. With the Kornstrasse sports store, the association has its own halls and sports rooms, so that in recent years various groups in the fields of dance, martial arts and acrobatics have also been able to be accommodated.

Men's soccer

In the 1920s, the men of the ATS Buntentor, together with SV Weser 08 Bremen and Blumenthaler SV, dominated Bremen workers' football and in 1928 reached the finals of the German ATSB championship . After the Second World War , the team rose to the association league in 1952 and, ten years later, reached the state league for the first time , at that time the top division of Bremen. In the 1960s and 1970s, ATS became an elevator team and again reached the Bremen upper house in the 1969/70 and 1971/72 seasons. After the ATS was able to stay in the Bremen regional league until 1981 , the team slipped into the regional league until 1985. Between 1995 and 2000 the club reached the regional league again and, after relegation in 2015, played in the district league A. With Uwe Bracht , the club produced a German B national player.

Women's soccer

ATS 'female soccer players had their most successful period in the early 2000s. They qualified for the DFB Cup in the 2000/01 , 2001/02 and 2002/03 seasons . In the 2001/02 season, the team reached the second round after a 2-0 victory at FC Eintracht Schwerin , where they were eliminated after a 0: 8 against SC Freiburg . A year later, ATS lost 1:16 to FFC Brauweiler Pulheim in the first round . In 2001, the team rose to the then second-rate Regionalliga Nord and immediately relegated. In 2014 ATS qualified again for the DFB Cup and lost to VfL Bochum 0:13 in the first round . A year later, he was promoted to the Regionalliga Nord, in which relegation was achieved in both the 2015/16 and 2016/17 seasons. In the DFB-Pokal of the 2015/2016 season, they lost 2: 6 to second division Holstein Kiel in the first round . With Sarah Günther , ATS produced a German national player. The International Girls Cup has been held at the ATS Buntentor since 2011 .

Floorball

The ATS Buntentor Knights are the floorball division of the club, which was founded in 2005. The 1st men's team plays in the Regionalliga Nordwest in the large field variant. There are also four youth teams playing.

lacrosse

The women's team of the lacrosse department ATS Buntentor, the "Snappenlikker", plays in the first Bundesliga North, the men's team "Likkedeeler" plays in the second Bundesliga North. There are also U16 youth teams for men and women.

To run

The running department and the running club have existed independently at ATS Buntentor since August 2004. Since 1999, runners, initially subordinate to the football department for organizational purposes, had already taken part in state championships. Since then there have been various titles and medals at regional and national championships as well as victories at renowned road races. The active ones currently hold more than twenty state records in Bremen. In 2008 the members of the association built a 1,050 meter long Finnbahn on the grounds of the Kuhhirten / Stadtwerder sports complex. Since 2007 the “Bremer Schoko-Crosslauf” has been held every year on December 26th. As part of the event, the association collects Christmas sweets for the benefit of the Bremer Tafel. Between 2010 and 2017, the "Summer Quartet" relay race took place eight times. The event, as well as the three-time "Kuhcross (QX)" has been discontinued in the meantime. Since 2015 a steadily growing course for the extreme obstacle course “Obstacle Course Race” (OCR) has been built on the sports grounds. In 2018, the “Crow Mountain Survival” was the first OCR competition organized by the association in cooperation with bremen RA cing in the center of Bremen. Further events (for 2020 on September 20th) are in preparation.
