New acquisitions

As of 2019, Stadler will deliver 33 Transitio ER1 4-car double-decker trains to Transitio. Here is a first train at InnoTrans 2018 in Berlin, Germany

For the routes in Mälardalen , new trains will be purchased via Transitio, which will run in the design of the future Mälartåg brand from MÄLAB (Mälardalstrafik). The trains are used on the routes Stockholm – Eskilstuna – Örebro, Stockholm – Nyköping – Norrköping and Sala – Västerås – Eskilstuna – Norrköping and are also used for the Sörmlandspilen between Halmstad and Stockholm via Katrineholm .

Transitio has decided to place an order with Stadler for the delivery of 33 pressurized 4-car double-decker trains. The trains will be delivered from 2019.

The Transitio ER1 is a variant of the Stadler KISS that is already in service in Switzerland, Austria, Germany and Luxembourg. In some cases, elements of the technology of the trains of the Stadler Flirt model , which is used in the Norwegian NSB Type 74 and 75 of the NSB and in the Swedish MTR X74 of the MTR Express , will be used in the new trains. This applies to winter operation and the minimization of damage in the event of collisions with wild animals.

The order is worth around SEK 3.5 billion .

The trains are lent to MÄLAB, which operates the traffic. Transitio is responsible for the financing of the trains, for which MÄLAB has provided securities.
