Öresundståg (or in Danish Øresundstog ; the company itself uses the hybrid spelling Øresundståg ) is the name of a transport company that serves regional, cross-border public transport in the Danish - Swedish Öresund region .

Owes its existence Öresundståg which opened in 2000 Oresund link , the Greater Copenhagen with the southern Swedish Scania ( Swedish Skåne ) connects by land.

Network and clock

The Öresundståg runs between Malmö and Copenhagen at short intervals. During the day a train crosses and under the Öresund every ten or 20 minutes , at night once an hour.

Other places in the Öresund region with regular connections are Lund , Landskrona , Kristianstad , Hässleholm , Helsingborg and Helsingør . Outside of Scena, trains run over the Västkustbana to Gothenburg and over the Södra stambana and Kust till kust-bana to Växjö , Karlskrona and Kalmar .

Since the completion of the city tunnel in Malmö in December 2010, there has been a better connection to the city center of Malmö. The old terminal station Malmö C has been expanded with the now existing underground through platforms for the Öresund trains.

vehicles

The connection is operated with electric multiple units from the manufacturer Adtranz (today Bombardier ). The company Öresundståg AB uses the X31K and X32K series procured for the Swedish Statens Järnvägar and the Danish DSB (Danske Statsbaner) the Swedish X31K , which are managed as the Danish ET series , for their Swedish provincial transport companies. Since Sweden and Denmark use different electrical systems on their routes, trains can run at 15 kV and 16⅔ Hz (Sweden) as well as at 25 kV and 50 Hz.

operator

Until January 10, 2009, the Öresund traffic was jointly managed by the Danish DSB on Danish territory, by Skånetrafik in Skåne and on the connections to Gothenburg and Kalmar by the Swedish SJ AB (Statens Järnvägar).

As of January 11, 2009, DSB First was the new operator, a joint venture between the Danish DSB and the British FirstGroup . The exception was the Alvesta - Kalmar route , which was still operated by SJ. Behind the brand Øresundståg are Trafikstyrelsen from Denmark and from Sweden Skånetrafik, Hallandstrafik , Blekingetrafik , Västtrafik , Länstrafik Kronoberg and Kalmar Läns Trafik .

On 11 December 2011, DSB First with the acquisition of the Swedish routes by Veolia in DSB Øresund renamed.
