List of train stations in Sweden |
Lunds centralstation or Lund C is the main train station of the Swedish city of Lund and is located in the Centrala staden district . The station building is about 100 m northwest of the Bantorget and the Grand Hotel .
The station opened with the construction of Södra stambanan in the 1850s. Extensions took place from 1872 to 1875 and from 1923 to 1926. The high-speed train X2000 operated by SJ AB runs to Gothenburg , Stockholm and Malmö , among others , the Öresund connection operated by the Öresundståg transport company to Copenhagen in Denmark , Veolias Snallenåg Malmö – Stockholm and Åre and a night train to Stockholm. In addition, Pågatåg , a kind of regional train , which runs within southern Sweden , stops .
With around 25,000 travelers per day, the station is one of the most frequented in the country. Between December 2008 and September 2009 it was rebuilt for 100 million SEK as part of the renovation of the Malmö train station and the construction of the Malmö City Tunnel . Banverket , Skånetrafik and the municipality of Lund shared the costs of the renovation in equal parts. The conversion included wider platforms, modern displays and new elevators and escalators. At the same time, the height of the platforms was adapted to the trains on Öresundståg and the new trains on Pågatåg.
From 2019 Lund's central station will be connected to the large research facility ESS by a tram line.
