Pågatåg
Pågatåg is a regional train in Skåne in southern Sweden . It is also often referred to as Pendeltåg (Swedish S-Bahn ), although it bears little resemblance to the S-Bahn operations in Stockholm or Gothenburg . Pågatåg is operated by the railway company Arriva Tåg AB on behalf of Skåne län and Skånetrafik .
history
The first Pågatåglinie started on January 9, 1983 under the direction of the public transport company Länstrafik of the province of Malmöhus län . In the following years, the route network with the central hub Malmö C was steadily expanded, and the merger of the provinces Malmöhus län and Kristianstads län in 1997 enabled operations to be expanded to other parts of Skåne.
Due to the increasing age of the X11 series trains in use and the fact that the trains are not equipped with an emergency brake override , which prevents approval for the city tunnel in Malmö, the operator Skånetrafik decided to replace the fleet with Alstom Coradia Nordic vehicles from Alstom. Since the completion of the Malmö City Tunnel, the Pågatåg network has been expanded to include the Malmö C - Trelleborg , Malmö C - Staffanstorp and Malmö C - Kävlinge lines .
Trains
In the Pågatågbetrieb electric multiple units of the series X61 and X11 are used. The purple trains have a maximum speed of 160 km / h (X11 140 km / h).
In the beginning the wagons were not only similar in appearance to those of the Stockholm Pendeltåg network , they were later expanded to meet the special requirements of the Pågatåg network. The cars were given toilets and passengers were given the opportunity to bring bicycles with them. One reason for this was the integration with the Copenhagen regional train network and the Danish- Swedish Öresundståg network , which led to greater distances traveled compared to the Stockholm Pendeltåg network.
