The first generation of the SM3 was launched in 2002 and is a mid-range model. The SM3 is based on the Nissan Bluebird Sylphy , but has an independent interior exclusively with leather upholstery.

Facelift
The SM3 was revised in 2005; the body has been modernized. The model is also exported as the Nissan Almera Classic . It is assembled as the Nissan Sunny in the Middle East and offered as the Renault Scala in some markets .

The second generation was launched in 2009 and is technically based on the Renault Mégane III . The body shape has been revised. The new generation also serves as the basis for the Renault Fluence . The SM3 is also available with an electric motor .
