The Mégane III is the third generation of the Mégane compact class car from the French car manufacturer Renault . The hatchback variant was replaced by the Mégane IV in March 2016 , the station wagon called the Grand Tour in September 2016.
Model history
The third version of the Renault Mégane has been on the market since November 29, 2008. The official presentation took place a month earlier at the Paris auto show.
The equipment includes the keycard hands-free function, an analog tachometer and a digital speedometer. When navigating, the Carminat 3 was initially used , which was later replaced by the cheaper Carminat TomTom . In addition, safety and environmental friendliness have been optimized.
The coupé has been available since January 23, 2009 and has its own body. The three-door version is equipped with a sportier chassis (12 mm lower than the five-door) and alloy wheels as standard.
Since June 21, 2009 there is also a station wagon called Grandtour .
In November 2009, the RS sports version of the Mégane Coupé followed with a 2.0-16V turbo engine (TCe) developing 184 kW (250 PS). The manufacturer specifies 8:08 minutes as the vehicle's lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
A new Coupé-Cabriolet has been completing the range since June 11, 2010.
The French car manufacturer provided a total of around € 93 million for the development of the Megane III. It is produced in the three plants in Douai , Palencia and Bursa .
Renault also presented a notchback sedan derived from the Mégane at the 2009 IAA. Sales of the Renault Fluence began in August 2010. This is the Samsung SM3 , which is being built in Turkey for the European market with a modified front.
Model maintenance
2012
In April 2012 the Mégane was revised. Among other things, the look of the front apron was redesigned. The fog lights connect directly to the air inlet. The optional LED daytime running lights, which were positioned below the main headlights, were also new. In addition, three new engines with an automatic start-stop system were introduced.
2014
In January 2014, the hatchback, coupé and estate grand tour were again subtly revised. The coupé-cabriolet was submitted in March. During this facelift, the front design in particular was changed and adapted to the current Renault design line. A 132 hp 1.2-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with turbocharging was introduced as the new engine. In the interior, a new infotainment system represents the most important change.
Renault presented the fourth generation of the Mégane at the IAA in Frankfurt in September 2015. The start of sales is expected in the first quarter of 2016.

safety
In June 2014, the NCAP crash test results for the Mégane III were published, in which this model only received three out of five stars, as u. a. the switch for deactivating the front passenger airbag was not clearly labeled and the rear seat belts were not labeled in all languages. These deficiencies have now been remedied, after which the Mégane III was re-tested and given four out of five stars in a re-evaluation that appeared in November 2014.
