The car, built in the Brazilian plant in Curitiba , is the first Renault model to be developed outside of Europe. For the European market, like the Logan , it was built at the plant in Piteşti ( Romania ). Outside Europe, the car model based on the Renault Clio is offered as Renault Sandero . In a version with higher ground clearance, the Sandero is also available under both brands under the additional name StepWay . In some South American markets, the Renault StepWay is even considered an independent model.
Furnishing
The trunk volume is 320 liters (1200 liters with the rear seat folded down). ABS , front airbags, belt tensioners and belt force limiters on all five seats are standard, and there is a surcharge for side airbags and other special equipment. An ESP , however, is not offered. The ground clearance is a good 15.5 centimeters and the better equipment variants have hydraulically assisted steering. The front has been redesigned and is a bit more rounded than the Logan.
The Sandero Stepway is a special model that was released in 2009 and whose structure is 20 millimeters higher. In addition, parts are attached that give it the appearance of an off-road vehicle, including a dummy underride guard and sill extensions made of partly silver-colored plastic.
In May 2011, a new Sandero model with a modified interior and some exterior changes was presented in Brazil.
Equipment:
- Sandero with 1.2 16V 55 kW (75 PS)
- Ambiance with 1.2 16V 55 kW in Germany (since September 2009 also with LPG system from the factory) or 1.2 16V 55 kW, 1.6 MPI 62 kW (84 PS) and 1.5 dCi 55 kW (75 PS) in Austria
- Lauréate with 1.2 16V 55 kW (also LPG), 1.6 MPI 62 kW, 1.5 dCi 55 kW and another 1.5 dCi with 65 kW (88 PS)
Engines
The Sandero is powered by the same engines as the Dacia Logan . The diesels could already be ordered at the end of 2008 and were delivered from 2009. From the beginning of 2009 the special model eco² with a 1.2l 16V motor with 55 kW was available in Germany. In Austria, the 1.4 MPI was completely deleted and replaced for all versions by the 1.2 16V 55 kW motor because of the lower NoVA .
From May 2012, the 1.6-16V engine with 105 hp was also available in the Sandero StepWay , which can also be operated with ethanol as an alternative.

The second generation of the Sandero officially appeared on the European market in January 2013, but the first vehicles have been delivered since November 2012.
The world premiere of the vehicle based on the MO platform of the Clio took place on September 27, 2012 at the Paris Motor Show. In addition to the five-door hatchback , the model variant called StepWay , which offers greater ground clearance, is offered again.
For the first time, ESP and power steering are standard.
For the 2017 model year, the Sandero received a facelift. Since then, Dacia has offered the SCe 75, a three-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of around one liter and 54 kW / 73 hp.
